Week 8

The class has picked up and the projects are more challenging. I have completed the readings for chapter 6 and 7 - Transactions and Operations, and Enterprise Integration. SCM, JIT, CRM, e-commerce, and security were all discussed. I submitted my research paper to another student last week for review and am trying to catch up on the class as I was out of town for the whole week. I have to review the case assignment and make sure I understand it before proceeding. I am looking forward to my resource conference and the ability to integrate the teachings from the conference and my class.

Week 6

Our class is already 40% complete. Time flies when you are learning and staying busy. This week I am focusing on networks and telecommunications, databases, and security. It is amazing how quickly things change in the information technology and systems arenas. What was standard five years ago often is no longer the case. As I learned with WiFi standards and encryption use in large companies, as consumer use increases (online buying) standards become more robust to thwart off potential hackers. The ability to safeguard personal and financial information is at the forefront of computer security today. On another note, I need to finish up my research paper and submit to another student prior to my departure to Virginia.
